Data we collect, why we collect it and who we share it with

Performance, Security and Spam prevention

We collect your IP address, browser user agent string and other anonymised data to help us serve our website from servers close to you, as well as detect and prevent malicious activity on our website.

This data is stored and processed by our website host, and shared with Cloudflare, Automattic and Google reCaptcha. They are essential for the functioning of the website.

In pursuant to these functionalities, we or the above mentioned partners, may also place cookies in your browser, which are necessary for the functioning of the website and can not be opted out of.

Analytics

We collect anonymised aggregated data on how our website is being used. This includes recording which pages on our website have been viewed, for how long, etc.

We share this data with Google Analytics. Your IP address is collected during this process, but it is anonymised at the earliest opportunity – before being saved by Google Analytics.

Mailing List

When you fill in the Newsletter Signup form on our website, we store this data with Mailchimp – our e-mail marketing provider. Mailchimp uses the data to send you our emails and track your engagement with our email campaigns.

You retain the right to unsubscribe at any time, by clicking on the link at the bottom of all our emails, or by visiting this page.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

This data is not collected, stored or processed by us.

Third-party Links

Where we link to third-party websites, you will be bound by the Privacy Policy of that website. We have no control over third-party websites.

How long we retain your data

The only personally identifiable data is your name and email address you use to sign up for the mailing list. This data is used until you unsubscribe, after which, it is archived and used only for aggregate reporting purposes.

All other data, anonymised and aggregate data, can be held for up to 24 months.

Rights you have over your data

You have a range of rights over your data, which include the following:

  • Where data processing is based on consent, you may revoke this consent at any time and we will make it as easy as possible for you to do this (for example by putting ‘unsubscribe’ links at the bottom of all our marketing emails).
  • You have the right to ask for rectification and/or deletion of your information.
  • You have the right of access to your information.
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner if you feel your rights have been infringed.

The primary personally identifiable data we collect is the name and email address you use to sign up for mailing list. You can at any time unsubscribe from our mailing list by clicking the link in email or here.

If you would like to access the rights listed above, or any other legal rights you have over your data under current legislation, please get in touch with us.

Please note that relying on some of these rights, such as the right to deleting your data, will make it impossible for us to continue to deliver some services to you. However, where possible we will always try to allow the maximum access to your rights while continuing to deliver as many services to you as possible.
